What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Electrical Plumbing (MEP) -Lead position at The Whiskey Project Group?
The Whiskey Project Group, USA is seeking a Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) Lead for its Edenton, NC location. The MEP Lead will oversee all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design & installation for TWPG vessels, ensuring safe, reliable, and compliant operations while supporting production, scheduling, maintenance, and growth initiatives. Implement and adhere to ABYC and other certifications and industry standards
Job Duties:
- Oversees all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design & installation for Military, Commercial & Recreational vessels.
- Serves as the primary technical lead for MEP-related design, development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and system improvements.
- Provide training and insure alignment to SOP's and QC standards
- Develops and implements preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maximize system reliability and uptime.
- Collaborates with Sales, Design, Engineering and Purchasing to create specs and BOM’s
Leads and coordinates internal teams, contractors, and vendors performing MEP work.
- Supports new builds, retrofits, and capital improvement projects involving MEP systems.
- Create & reviews drawings, specifications, and scopes of work for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
- Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Create & maintain documentation for QC inspections, certifications, and regulatory compliance.
- Assists with budgeting, sourcing, cost tracking, and forecasting for MEP-related operations and projects.
- Coordinates commissioning, testing, and handover of MEP systems.
- Promotes a strong safety culture and ensures adherence to TWPG safety policies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Knowledge of ABYC & USCG standards.
- Ability to manage teams, contractors, and multiple workstreams.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.
- Ability to work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and leadership teams.
Education and Experience:
- Trade certification, technical degree, or engineering background in mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience overseeing MEP systems installation & service in Marine manufacturing environments.
- Experience in marine, shipyard, or vessel-based operations strongly preferred.
Pay: $30.00 - $50.00 per hour
