What are the responsibilities and job description for the Composite Shop Manager position at The Whiskey Project Group?
TWPG USA. Composite Shop Manager directs the manufacturing and assembly of composite parts to support the manufacturing of commercial, military and recreational vessels (utilizing carbon fiber and conventional fiberglass laminates). They oversee production schedules, material processing, quality control, and personnel to ensure products are built safely and efficiently while meeting company standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Management: Direct daily operations, manage workflow, and prioritize projects to ensure on-time delivery of composite components.
- Process Oversight: Supervise composite fabrication techniques, including hand layup, resin infusion, vacuum bagging, and RTM.
- tracking, and implement Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and QC to maintain product integrity.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, mentor, and evaluate shop technicians and supervisors.
- Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen) to reduce waste, optimize cycle times, and improve production efficiency.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all hazardous material handling, equipment operations (e.g., presses, ovens), and shop cleanliness align with OSHA and facility safety regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in composite manufacturing (e.g., aerospace, automotive, or marine), with 3 years in a leadership role.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of composite materials properties, tooling designs and maintenance, and manufacturing equipment.
- Documentation: Ability to interpret complex technical data, such as engineering drawings, laminate schedules, and fiber orientation.
- Systems: Proficiency with ERP systems and basic proficiency in CAD or project management software.

Salary: Commensurate to experience
Salary Range: $79,040 -$93,600
