Middle School Music Teacher: Grades 6-8

Begins August 2026


The Wheeler School, a co-ed, N-12 independent day school with city and farm campuses serving approximately 800 students in the Greater Providence and Greater Boston areas, is seeking an Art Teacher to join our Middle School.

Middle School Music Teacher

Wheeler seeks a middle school instructor who can work in both vocal and instrumental contexts. This position, as a member of the Performing Arts department, would assist with chorus and oversee a middle school instrumental program. As a member of the Wheeler faculty, this candidate will be expected to initiate and facilitate exceptional opportunities for students in and outside of the Wheeler campus.


Specifically, responsibilities would include:

● Teaching musical offerings grades 6-8 as assigned

● Possible support for the Middle School and Lower School musicals

● Collaboration as a member of Performing Arts department

● Arrange music as needed for performance groups

● Oversee beginning instrumental instruction

● Support of schoolwide arts and cultural events

Required and preferred experiences:

● BMus or BA (advanced degree preferred)

● Experience in pre-k through high school performing arts department

● Expertise and training in Orff or Kodaly

● Interest in designing and implementing curriculum

● Experience facilitating instrumental music programming
