GENERAL SUMMARY:


District Wharf Properties, LLC is hiring a Maintenance Technician to support District Wharf Community Association and Retail Property Management at The Wharf, a 3.2 million square foot mixed-use development along the Washington Channel in Washington, DC, including retail, residential, office, hotel, maritime, and entertainment spaces. Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, this role is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and upkeep of building systems, grounds, and mechanical infrastructure across the property.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of the property, including building systems, grounds, utilities, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
  • Routinely inspect the property to identify maintenance needs, troubleshoot issues, perform repairs, or coordinate corrective work with outside contractors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and a variety of general maintenance and repair tasks throughout the property, including painting, drywall, carpentry, minor plumbing and electrical repairs, lighting maintenance, and repairs to sidewalks, parking areas, and other structural elements.
  • Project manage assigned maintenance tasks from start to finish by defining the scope of work, coordinating schedules, tracking materials, and ensuring timely completion.
  • Coordinate, oversee, and escort vendors and contractors performing work on site; verify scope, monitor work quality, and confirm completion.
  • Respond to maintenance requests, service calls, and emergency situations in a timely and professional manner, including participating in an on-call rotation as needed.
  • Assist with event-related logistics as directed by Operations Director.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe maintenance shops, workspaces, storage areas, equipment, and tools.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of maintenance supplies, parts, tools, and equipment; ensure required documentation, records, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are accurate and up to date.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, and skid steers/bobcats (training and certification provided as required).
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and applicable safety regulations, including OSHA standards, to promote a safe work environment.
  • Assist with other maintenance, operational, or special projects as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; technical/trade school certifications or training preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum 2-3 years building maintenance experience performing some carpentry, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing functions.
  • Comfortable with hand and power tools; lift operation training can be provided
  • Familiarity with a CMMS / work-order system (MaintainX) a plus
  • No engineering license required
  • Comfortable lifting, moving, and handling heavy items
  • Dependable, proactive, team-oriented mindset
  • Must be in the Washington, DC area with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotation as needed

COMPENSATION: 60-65k
