Job Summary
The Shipping Lift Operator I is responsible for staging materials, loading trucks and railcars, and maintaining accurate inventory counts within the Shipping Department. This position supports the supply chain by operating mobile equipment safely and efficiently while ensuring products meet quality specifications and shipping schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Stage finished products for loading and shipment
- Load trucks and railcars safely and efficiently
- Operate mobile equipment to support shipping and logistics operations
- Optimize loading to ensure efficient transportation and logistics flow
- Maintain accurate counts of inventory available for shipment
- Ensure all products meet established quality specifications
- Support other shipping functions as needed to ensure smooth operations
- Follow all safety, health, and plant policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a team environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Willingness to work any shift, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Strong commitment to safety and dependable attendance
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to learn new tasks and adapt to change
- Ability to work in a noisy, industrial environment
- Ability to comply with all required safety policies and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, or front-end loaders in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience in lumber, wood products, or manufacturing environments
- Prior sawmill experience preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Experience troubleshooting industrial or production equipment
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds
- Ability to work from elevated positions using required safety gear and procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, push, and pull for extended periods
- Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions
