This professional will serve a key function developing relationships and opportunities as well as executing effective strategies and tactics to further grow business in the renewables and heavy-civil markets, which includes but is not limited to; solar, wind, energy storage, power transmission and distribution, large private site development, public and private design-build projects, and infrastructure construction. In this role, you will work collaboratively with The Wesson Group’s leadership and technical teams to leverage the firm’s expertise directly with prospects and clients as well as allied design firms such as mechanical/electrical consultants, EPCs, law firms, and the regulatory community, to support the strategic plan and growth of the company.

Salary: $130,000-$150,000, bonus eligible

Location: Remote/Hybrid role- up to 25% of travel. Mostly in New York State. Preference will be given to candidates in the Northeast and close to a major airport.

Client Relationship Management:

· Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients in the target markets.

· Identifies and assesses market trends and potential opportunities;

· Leverages experience with key renewable and private development clients;

· Understand client needs and goals, identify opportunities for collaboration, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

· Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.

· Fully utilize and manage the CRM Platform for optimized pursuit and client management.

· Lead major pursuits and campaigns, develop winning strategies, and guide proposal efforts that reflect deep client insight.

· Collaborate with market and operations leadership to define and support regional strategic plans.

· Support the maturation of business development skills across teams, fostering a culture of client focus and strategic thinking.

· New Client Acquisition:

· Identify and target potential clients within the target markets for new business development opportunities.

· Develop and implement effective sales strategies and pursuit plans to attract new clients including targeted pursuit plans for projects and clients.

· Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and competitor activities.

· Collaborate with technical teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding of our services.

· Track and report sales performance metrics regularly utilizing reporting in the CRM platform.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

· Collaborate closely with the technical, preconstruction and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.

· Work with Operations Group to ensure the right talent and expertise are matched to client needs and growth opportunities in collaboration with operational partners.

· Provide feedback on market trends, client needs, and competitor activities to internal stakeholders.

· Prepares Opportunity Checklists for analysis by executive team for Go-No-Go decisions on each proposal.

· Partners with Preconstruction team in the preparation of project proposals, statements of qualifications, requests for quotations and pricing, and other marketing collateral from concept through completion;

· Leads business development agenda during weekly meetings to coordinate events, business development opportunities and proposals;

· Coordinates, tracks and supports the firm’s business development/marketing activities;

· Attends networking events on behalf of the firm; and

· Performs other duties as requested.

How will success be measured?

Increase the product line(s) in alignment with our strategic plan to account for 25% of the pipeline outside of the renewable energy market.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field

· 7 years of related business development and marketing, experience within the renewable energy industry preferred

· Proven track record of success in sales and business development within the heavy civil construction and/or the renewable energy market

· Demonstrated experience with supervision and creation of multi-disciplinary proposals

· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat/Reader

· Active participation in applicable professional organizations

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and excellent editing skills

· Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities

· Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment with multiple deadlines

· Ability to travel to networking events, tradeshows, and branch offices.

· Preferred to be Upstate or Western New York based.
