Server – 1869 Room Restaurant
Position Summary
The Server is responsible for delivering warm, attentive, and efficient service to guests dining in the hotel's 1869 Room Restaurant. This role includes taking and processing food and beverage orders, ensuring an exceptional dining experience, and accurately handling guest payments. Servers also assist with setting up and maintaining the dining room and their assigned work areas.
Experience & Education
- 1–3 years of experience in a food and beverage setting
- Hospitality experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe and/or TIPS certification a plus
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare dining areas for service by setting tables with linens, silverware, and glassware
- Assist with basic food and beverage preparation, including brewing coffee, toasting bread, and portioning condiments
- Complete all assigned side work and cleaning duties in accordance with hotel food and beverage policies
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the full menu, including daily specials
- Present menus to guests, answer questions, and provide thoughtful recommendations
- Describe menu items, including ingredients and preparation methods
- Accurately take guest orders, enter them into the point-of-sale system, and communicate with kitchen staff
- Collect and process payments for food and beverage purchases
Requirements
- Ability to operate restaurant equipment, including cash registers, credit card machines, beverage dispensers, and standard dining room tools
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and noise levels
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen to, understand, and respond to guest and coworker concerns
