What your day looks like:
The ideal Commodity Driver and Operations Support candidate conducts daily operating activities pertaining to grain receiving and fertilizer distribution as well as provides timely deliveries of fertilizer and fertilizer equipment to customers in the local area. Also, they have a working knowledge of and are responsible for support in the daily operations of the Risser facility. To accomplish this, they will need to follow quality, environmental and safety policies and procedures as they work alongside other operations personnel and supervision to provide support in unloading and loading of grain and fertilizer products.
This is a seasonal, full-time position running approximately from March through August. While there may be an opportunity for continued full-time employment after the season, it is not guaranteed. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional overtime possible during peak periods.
May be responsible for all or part of the following duties and responsibilities to be determined by the Site Manager and supervision.
Tender Truck Driver
- Prevent damage to customer's equipment and property when making deliveries
- Conduct pre and post trip inspections
- Record fertilizer spreader and tender locations
- Inspect fertilizer spreaders and tenders for operating condition when making deliveries
- Properly and safely operate tending equipment
- Maintain truck and tender by
- Routine greasing
- Cleaning truck inside and out
- Maintaining adequate fluid levels
- Keeping fertilizer slides clean to prevent batches from unintentionally mixing
- Fill fuel tanks at end of each day before going home
Maintenance
- Perform basic routine maintenance on property and equipment
- Conduct daily maintenance work activities in assigned equipment areas and sets up any additional work maintenance schedules required
- Continuously maintain awareness of any maintenance problems and develop strategies and procedures to correct existing problems and helps eliminate any future maintenance related issues or reduce unscheduled down times due to maintenance issues
- Promote an active safety awareness program, including applying clean housekeeping practices to tools, equipment and facility
- Ensure that all procedures are properly followed while conducting a repair
- Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental, safety and quality laws and procedures
- Troubleshoot causes of equipment problems and work independently and/or with maintenance team and equipment operators to ensure proper and permanent fixes are in place
- Perform housekeeping duties as requested by the Site Manager and supervision
Facilities
- Assist with receiving grain deliveries
- Assist when needed at blending tower to provide timely service
- Shovel and sweep up spills
Who you are:
- Can interact with both internal and external customers in a professional manner
- Perform basic troubleshooting, repair and assembly of any grain and tender equipment
- Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment as appropriate
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and can drive company vehicle, per policy
- Tender truck drivers able to work 10-12 hours per day without constant supervision
- Ability to work holidays, nights, weekends or different shifts and overtime as needed

Education & Experience
- A minimum requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current CDL Class B/A with air brakes and valid physical card
- Experience driving a non-synchronized truck transmission required
- Basic demonstration of problem solving and trouble-shooting equipment failure skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Background in fertilizer and agricultural practices through education and/or experience preferred
- Ability to operate various types of machinery and heavy equipment preferred
Trade Skills Desired
- Basic plumbing skills
- Basic pneumatic skills
- Basic millwrighting skills
- Basic crane & rigging skills
- Basic welding/torching skills
- Basic knowledge of steam systems and boilers
- Basic experience with Grain Elevator Equipment (bins, legs, systems)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly and up to 100 lbs. on occasion
- Ability to climb truck and tender ladders and work in high place
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to work in dusty conditions
- Must be able to perform physical job duties including bending/stooping, climbing ladders, open/close valves, shoveling, pounding with hammer and work in confined spaces
- Must be able to work under special work conditions, such as extreme heat or cold, inside or outside
- Standing approximately 95% of the shift
- Work in confining environments under / over equipment
- Manual and finger dexterity to make precise coordinated movements
