What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Finance position at The Wellness Company?
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Employer: The Wellness Company (TWC)
Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite)
Employment Type: Full Time, Permanent
About The Wellness Company
The Wellness Company (TWC) is a direct to consumer health and wellness brand built around a simple idea: people deserve fast, physician backed access to the medications, emergency preparedness tools, and supplements that keep them and their families safe. Guided by a Chief Medical Board of nationally recognized physicians, TWC has grown to serve more than one million customers with emergency medical kits, prescription access, and premium supplements, all shipped directly to their door. We are a fast moving, digitally native company that combines clinical credibility with the speed and creativity of modern ecommerce.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Director of Finance to own financial planning, analysis, and reporting for TWC. You will build the models, forecasts, and dashboards that guide decisions on product launches, marketing spend, inventory, and margin across a fast growing direct to consumer business selling emergency kits, prescriptions, and supplements. You will partner closely with marketing, operations, and the medical team to translate unit economics, customer acquisition cost, and membership retention into a clear financial story for the CEO, CFO, and board. This role also carries a mandate to modernize how the finance function works, putting AI directly into the everyday tools of forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
This is a role for someone who wants to help run the financial engine behind a fast growing consumer health brand, not just report on it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning and analysis for TWC, including monthly and quarterly forecasting, annual budgeting, and long range planning.
- Own the consolidated financial reporting package delivered to the CEO, CFO, executive team, and board.
- Partner with marketing, ecommerce, and medical leadership to model customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, and membership and subscription economics.
- Build and maintain financial models supporting new product launches, inventory planning, and margin analysis across supplements, prescription products, and emergency kits.
- Drive adoption of AI powered tools and workflows across FP&A, using them to accelerate forecasting cycles, automate variance analysis, and surface insights faster than traditional methods allow.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, and vendor and cost of goods sold trends across a direct to consumer, membership, and pharmacy fulfillment model.
- Standardize financial reporting definitions and KPIs across sales channels, including the direct to consumer website, memberships, wholesale, and affiliate partnerships.
- Support external audit, banking, and lender reporting relationships.
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase the speed and accuracy of close and reporting cycles.
- Manage and develop a small team of financial analysts, setting a high bar for rigor and initiative.
- Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and CFO on capital allocation and growth strategy.
What You Bring
- CPA designation required.
- 7 or more years of progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role with FP&A or corporate finance scope.
- Experience in direct to consumer ecommerce, subscription or membership businesses, or consumer health and wellness is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated fluency in US GAAP and consolidated financial reporting.
- Strong, hands on skills using AI tools for finance applications, such as AI assisted forecasting, automated reporting, or natural language query of financial data, required.
- Advanced financial modeling ability and command of Excel; experience with ecommerce, ERP, or consolidation platforms such as Shopify, NetSuite, or similar.
- A track record of translating complex financial data into clear recommendations for non finance executives and board members.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with the CEO, CFO, and cross functional leaders.
- A builder's mindset, comfortable creating structure and process where none exists yet.
You Might Be a Great Fit If...
- You have worked at a high growth direct to consumer or consumer health company and understand the rhythm of a fast moving ecommerce business.
- You are excited by the idea of rebuilding finance workflows around AI rather than defending the status quo.
- You want your analysis to directly influence product, marketing, and capital decisions, not just document what already happened.
- You thrive with real ownership and want to build the playbook, not just follow one.
