Role Description This is an on-site summer internship role based in Mount Kisco, NY. The Summer Intern will support Wellness Center staff in delivering social-emotional programming, including helping to prepare and facilitate group activities, workshops, and play-based interventions for children and teens. Daily responsibilities may include assisting with activity setup and cleanup, organizing materials, observing sessions under supervision, and supporting the creation of a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment. The intern will help with basic documentation and data entry, outreach for wellness initiatives, and coordination of family and community resources as directed by staff. The role also offers opportunities for learning about trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and integrated wellness services through supervision, team meetings, and reflective practice.
Qualifications
- Interest in youth development, mental health, counseling, social work, psychology, education, or related fields.
- Ability to build rapport with children, teens, and families in a respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive manner.
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, interns, and community partners.
- Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, maintain basic records, and support program logistics.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, youth-centered environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, strengths-based, and play-based approaches to supporting young people.
- Reliability and professionalism, including punctuality, appropriate boundaries, and adherence to confidentiality and safety protocols.
- Ability to work on-site in Mount Kisco, NY for the duration of the summer internship schedule.
- Previous experience with youth (e.g., volunteering, mentoring, camp, tutoring, childcare) is helpful but not required.
