Status: Full-Time
Summary: The Development Director provides oversight for The WellHouse’s day-to-day development efforts by expanding the donor database and increasing donor retention. The Development Director will also assist the COO to strengthen relationships with existing funders and build new relationships with a broader and more diverse funding base. Alongside the COO, the Development Director will annually review and adjust fundraising strategy and execute the strategy by managing fundraising efforts including events, campaigns, marketing, donor engagement, planned giving, foundations and grants, and corporate partnerships.
Essential Functions:
- Execute a strategic and systematic focus on closing commitments from household donors, foundations, churches, corporations, and other entities for the purpose of meeting or exceeding annual revenue goals.
- Continually prospect, solicit, cultivate and steward WellHouse donors, focusing on acquisition, maintaining relationships, and increasing retention rates.
- Acknowledge and express appreciation to donors through established methods in coordination with other development team staff.
- Routinely engage board members, organization executives and current donors in peer prospect identification, visits, and closings of solicitations.
- Compassionately articulate the WellHouse story both in person and through public communications.
- Guide the development of compelling proposals alongside Grants Coordinator and develop relationships with grant managers and foundations.
- Oversee the development of creative presentations and reports to include annual reports, board reports and newsletters. Oversee bulk mailing efforts.
- Manage and schedule speaking and awareness events.
- Establish and manage effective events and campaigns; enlist the assistance of the Development Team, COO, Board of Directors, Junior Board, and other volunteers.
- Build and sustain positive public awareness of The WellHouse through media relations, including print, electronic media, radio, streaming, and TV broadcast.
- Set clear benchmarks/goals for the work, regularly reflect on progress through gift data tracking and analysis and adjust tactics as necessary to meet The WellHouse’s revenue goals.
Education & Experience: 1.Bachelor's degree in the area of Communications, Sales, Marketing, Nonprofit or similar 2.Two years of front-line experience in major gifts development 3.Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising in an environment of similar complexity
