Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards across subjects such as literacy, math, and social skills.
- Support children’s individual learning needs by adapting activities and providing personalized assistance.
- Help manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective behavior management strategies.
- Support children with developmental disabilities or autism by implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and fostering an inclusive environment.
- Aid in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and child safety.
- Engage in curriculum development efforts to enhance lesson effectiveness and incorporate innovative teaching methods such as Montessori or preschool approaches.
- Assist with classroom routines such as snack time, transitions, and outdoor activities, including toddler care when applicable.
- Collaborate with teachers on lesson planning and assessment strategies to monitor student progress effectively.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavioral updates.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in early childhood education settings or classrooms is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in special education is essential.
- Familiarity with teaching techniques for literacy education, math, and curriculum development is advantageous.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or willingness to learn is desirable for supporting deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and students.
- Classroom management skills to maintain a positive learning environment.
- Childcare experience in preschool or toddler care settings is beneficial.
