What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bridal Workroom Production Manager position at The Wedding Dresser?
The Wedding Dresser is a new concept in Bridal retailing offering "everything but the dress" We do alterations, restyle and customize wedding dresses - adding straps and sleeves, build ups, reshaping skirts and adding lace and beading.
We specialize in refurbishing, resizing and re-designing vintage and antique wedding dresses. We also design and produce a line of evening wraps, coverups and accessories all produced at our Industry City studio and sold in our studio, our online store and wholesale.
We seek a Production Manager with sewing workroom or costume construction experience. This job includes organizing the work for our in house team and outside contractors, making sure alterations and accessories are completed well and on time.
Required skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- Experience fitting garments on real humans a big plus
- Able to make sure projects are completed on time and well
- Good sewing skills and professional experience in a sewing production workroom or costume shop
- Some Pattern drafting, draping skills
- Ability to organize work for our team and outside contractors
- Able to teach and manage interns
- Knowledge of Word/Excel/Google Drive on Mac computers
- Good Customer Service skills
This job is perfect for anyone with theatrical wardrobe or costume design and construction experience, Bridal and special occasion design and construction, or couture techniques background.
This job is part time and works well around Theatrical Wardrobe/Dresser schedules. It also works well for young designers with strong constructon background as hours can be flexible.
Full time work is also available if you have the skills to do fittings on wedding dresses, stitch dresses or accessories; hand finishing, beading or millinery experience; or retail skills including online shop management or retail store manager/merchandising skills.
This job also works well as a transition in to or out of a Costume Design or Construction career as it uses exactly the same skill set.
Compensation includes Hourly salary, paid sick leave and paid holidays PLUS COMMISSION on alterations your pin and accessories.
