Job Description
Title: Youth Ministry Director
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Summary of Position: The Way Church Wentzville is dedicated to walking alongside families and their pre-teen/teenage children in their spiritual journey. We believe in helping our youth explore their faith, develop leadership skills, and strengthen their relationships with God and each other in a safe space with leaders they trust. This position requires a dedicated individual who understands the spiritual, emotional, and social challenges faced by 6th-12th grade students. This position is unique in that we need someone who is a spiritual mentor, guide, and teacher to our youth and can lead a team of volunteers to also fill these roles.

· Passion for partnering with parents
· Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment and a trusting spiritual relationship with our youth
· Possess strong leadership and administrative skills in order to lead ministry teams and volunteers
· Ability to communicate well with pre-teens, teens, and adults
· Dedicated to discipling young believers in different stages of their faith development
· Experience in coordinating, scheduling and training volunteers
· Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, overnight events, summer mission trips, and camps
· Proven success in managing social media content
· Knowledge of or ability to learn technology for audio/visual components
· Pass a background check
Responsibilities:
· Serve as a flexible, collaborative member of The Way Church staff, supporting the overall mission and vision
· Develop, plan, and implement engaging youth programming (grades 6–12) on a yearly, monthly, and weekly basis, ensuring alignment with church values and goals
· Creatively share the gospel of Jesus Christ in relevant and meaningful ways with youth and their families
· Model a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, Scripture, and active participation in the life of the church.
· Equip youth to live out their faith daily and grow as disciples who follow Jesus in word and action.
· Recruit, screen, train, and equip volunteer leaders; provide ongoing encouragement and evaluation to strengthen the team
· Create and sustain a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where youth feel known, valued, and cared for
· Maintain Safe Sanctuary certification and ensure all volunteers comply with safety and child protection standards
· Manage the youth ministry budget, including forecasting, purchasing supplies, and maintaining accurate records
· Maintain current and relevant curriculum, staying informed on best practices and trends through ongoing education (minimum 10 hours per year)
· Lead and participate in church and community events (e.g., Youth Kickoff, Friendsgiving, VBS, Trunk or Treat, Cookies with Santa)
· Provide pastoral care for youth and families during times of crisis or hospitalization, including prayer, visits, and follow-up support
· Support and guide youth and families through confirmation, baptism, and other faith milestones
· Partner with the Children’s Ministry Director to ensure a smooth transition for students moving from children’s to youth ministry.
· Maintain ministry records and communication through church management systems (CCB/Subsplash)
· Communicate professionally and promptly with youth, families, volunteers, and church staff (respond within 24 hours)
· Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with the Lead Pastor and other ministry leaders on church-wide initiatives
· Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
Work Location: In person
Salary : $20 - $25
