Job Description
Title: Children’s Ministry Director
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Summary of Position: The Way Church Wentzville is dedicated to walking alongside families and children in their spiritual journey. We believe in helping children discover the love of Jesus and nurturing their faith into a relationship with Him. This position requires a dedicated individual who understands children’s spiritual, emotional, physical and social growth. This position requires creativity, biblical understanding, clear communication and a passion for families. This position will lead a team of volunteers to foster spiritual growth and ensure the safety of children from newborn to 5th grade.

- Experience in the area of working with children birth to 5th grade
- Passion for partnering with parents
- Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment for spiritual growth in children
- Possess strong leadership and administrative skills in order to lead ministry teams and volunteers
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate teaching strategies
- Knowledge of or ability to learn technology for audio/visual components
- Experience in coordinating, scheduling and training volunteers
- Bachelor’s degree in education or similar
- Pass a background check
Responsibilities:
- Lead, plan, and oversee Sunday morning children’s programming and special family events throughout the year (for example: VBS, Trunk or Treat, Cookies with Santa)
- Creatively and clearly share the gospel of Jesus Christ with children and families, fostering faith formation and spiritual growth
- Recruit, screen, train, and equip volunteers; build and lead a strong children’s ministry leadership team
- Develop and maintain a vision, mission, and goals for children’s ministry that align with the overall church strategy
- Ensure Safe Sanctuary compliance and maintain updated policies, procedures, and curriculum for birth–5th grade programs
- Build relationships with children and families, offering care and support during times of need, baptism preparation, and family transitions
- Manage ministry budget, purchasing, communication, and records; maintain professional training requirements
- Partner with the Youth Ministry Director to create a smooth transition for students moving from children to youth ministry
- Work collaboratively with the church staff to advance the vision, mission, and goals of the church and reach the children and families within the mission field of The Way Church Wentzville
- Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
Work Location: In person
