The Watson Institute is hiring a casual Psychiatric Nurse for the outpatient psychological services department in Wexford, PA. This position will work Tuesdays and Thursdays, approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, approx. 10-15 hours/week
Responsibilities:
- Office nurse to psychiatrist; check-in patients, maintain the physician’s phone line and accurately code insurance bills for the doctor visit
- Medication management including reordering medications, collaborating with pharmacies and securing insurance authorizations
- Act as liaison between the psychiatrist, clinical team, and the families
- Provide mental health and medical services to the outpatient program
- Work closely with the psychiatrist identifying the psychiatric needs of each patient in a manner which constitutes good nursing practice
- Participates in the team approach, interacting on a therapeutic level with the children.
- Participates in the development of the treatment plan and in the twenty-day reviews of that plan
- Attends meetings and staff conferences that contribute to the staff’s understanding of the dynamics of the psychosomatic concept
- Counsels parents, when indicated, on diet, health habits, or medical management
- Comply with local, county, state, and federal authorities regarding all health requirements
- Assist as delegated by the Program Director in agency compliance with all accreditation bodies
- Assist in periodic reports to the Program Director concerning utilization of the Outpatient Clinic and related issues
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required
- Current PA registered nurse license required
- Experience in the field of psychiatric nursing
- Excellent communication skills required
- Ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, kneeling, or brisk walking
- Ability to work independently
- Current Acts 34, 114, and 151 clearances required
