Responsibilities
- Assist with food production and meal preparation, ensuring all dietary guidelines and safety standards are met
- Properly handle food items following food safety protocols, including sanitation and storage procedures
- Operate dishwashing equipment efficiently to clean dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen tools in accordance with sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, dining spaces, and food service equipment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Support the dietary team with bussing tables and serving meals to residents or patients in a courteous and professional manner
- Follow safe lifting practices when moving heavy items such as bulk food supplies or large trays to prevent injury
- Adhere to workplace safety policies including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manual handling techniques
Qualifications
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or food industry settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of food handling, preparation, sanitation, and safety procedures
- Familiarity with working with geriatric patients or individuals requiring special dietary considerations is a plus
- Strong time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently throughout shifts
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and follow proper lifting practices
- Basic understanding of nutrition principles and meal service operations
- Certification in CPR or workplace safety training is advantageous but not mandatory
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and customer service
