Washington Trust has an opportunity for a recent graduate with internship or other business-related experience who may be considering a career in Wealth Management.
We are looking for a self-starter to become a Wealth Management Assistant as part of our Middle Office Team located in Westerly, RI. This position is an on-site role.
This group provides operational support to all groups within Wealth Management. This is accomplished by providing outstanding service, administrative and analytical support, and transaction processing to internal and external clients. The successful candidate will ensure internal team partners are compliant with operating policy, documentation procedures and regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time, and exceptions are resolved proactively.
This position interacts with client facing team members, management, third-parties and vendors to coordinate daily operational activities. The candidate will have the ability to support process improvement activity and help embed a culture of continuous improvement.
Candidates in this position will acquire a working knowledge of the investment management business, the trust and fiduciary business, wealth management products and processes.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide outstanding client service with daily interaction
Answer telephone calls and direct customers to appropriate areas.
Support external clients/client facing colleagues with web portal setup and issues
Scan, file, distribute incoming and outgoing physical mail for client facing teams
Daily data entry for account opening, client on-boarding and Retirement Pay processing.
Quality control and continuous improvement through recommendation of changes to processes, documentation of workflows and writing procedures
Create, distribute and mail client related communications (i.e., Change of Address Notifications ,checks, fee invoices, etc.).
Create and distribute reports
File, research, or obtain information needed by WM Client team members.
Special projects as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
Skills, Education
College degree preferred.
1-3 years’ experience in financial services and customer support; direct customer experience strongly preferred
Strong demonstrated knowledge of customer service principles and practices
Strong keyboarding skills; intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Word and Excel skills
Self-thinker able to work through issues and escalate only when appropriate
Detail oriented, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy; ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work
Demonstrated good quality communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to anticipate issues and aggressively drive initiatives to ensure results
Strong research/investigation skills
Compensation: A good‑faith, reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is $42,000 to $57,000, and the actual offer will depend on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. This base salary reflects one component of our competitive compensation package. This position may be eligible for an annual bonus and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
