Department: Plant Operations

Reports To: Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds

FLSA: Non-Exempt

TERM: 12 Months

Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate and Benefits

Hourly Rate Range: $24.00 to $27.00 per hour.

The Wardlaw Hartridge School, located in Edison, NJ is seeking a facilities staff person. Position available immediately.

Facilities/Maintenance Staff

Facilities/Maintenance Staff are responsible for performing tasks related to the upkeep of buildings and grounds. They are responsible for the maintenance and repairs of equipment and building systems to ensure the facilities are clean, safe, and functional.

They are expected to be diligent in their duties and are required to work collaboratively, have a professional work ethic, and preferably possess some level of technical knowledge and experience in the various building trades.

Responsibilities

· Perform landscaping and snow removal duties as required. Must be on call for snow events as needed.

· Perform minor repairs to buildings and grounds keeping equipment. Basic skills in electric, plumbing and carpentry are a plus.

· Direct traffic during arrival and dismissal times, as well as special events.

· Complete set-ups of rooms and furnishings for meetings and events.

· Perform cleaning activities such as sweeping, mopping, trash collection, etc.

· Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment are a plus.

· Assemble and install appliances, furnishings, and equipment.

· Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and HVAC filters.

· Inspect and assist in troubleshooting equipment and system issues.

· Collaborate with all members of the school community in an articulate and courteous manner during the completion of duties.

· Perform any other duties deemed necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the school

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Valid Driver’s License.

· Proven experience in a similar position.

· Minimal working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.

· Physical stamina and dexterity. Ability to walk, stand, or crouch for long periods while performing various job duties. Ability to lift 50lbs.

· Be able to communicate, follow directions and work in a team environment.

· Positive work attitude.
