Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals to meet individual needs.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a positive environment.
- Monitor and document clients' progress and any changes in behavior or health status.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of clients while adhering to resident rights.
- Administer first aid and CPR as needed in emergency situations.
- Collaborate with family members, nurses, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to home care and direct support.
Requirements
- Previous experience in home care or direct support working with client's that have disabilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of resident rights and long-term care practices is beneficial.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and their families.
- Ability to assist clients with physical tasks while maintaining their dignity.
- Commitment to providing high-quality care and support tailored to individual needs.
- Must be able to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
