Role Description This is a full-time, Grade 4 and 5 homeroom teacher, on-site based at The Walden School in Winter Park, FL. The teacher will design and deliver developmentally appropriate, engaging lessons that integrate academic content with inquiry-based and project-based learning in multi-age elementary classrooms. Daily responsibilities include planning curriculum, facilitating classroom activities, assessing student progress, providing differentiated support, and maintaining clear, constructive communication with students, families, and colleagues. The role involves collaborating with other educators to align curriculum, participate in team meetings, contribute to school-wide initiatives, and support a safe, inclusive learning environment. The teacher will also model and reinforce the school’s values of diversity, equity, justice, and community engagement in all aspects of classroom and school life.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Elementary Education and Education theory, with the ability to apply child development principles in multi-age classrooms.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Teaching, including classroom management, differentiated instruction, and student-centered learning.
  • Experience with Curriculum Development, including creating standards-aligned, inquiry-based, and project-based units.
  • Excellent Communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, Education, or a related field; teaching certification or licensure preferred.
  • Experience in progressive, independent, or alternative school settings is beneficial.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice, with the ability to create an affirming classroom for students of all backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a small school environment, show flexibility, and engage in ongoing professional learning.
