Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated Golf Operations Manager to lead our golf course operations with a primary focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences and executing seamless tournament events. This role emphasizes hands-on course management, guest relations, and event coordination to ensure our facility operates at the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Course Operations Management
- Oversee all daily golf course operations including tee time optimization, pace of play monitoring, and course flow management
- Coordinate closely with grounds crew to ensure superior course conditions and playability standards
- Manage golf cart fleet operations, maintenance schedules, and GPS system functionality
- Monitor weather patterns and make critical decisions regarding course accessibility and safety
- Implement and maintain course policies, rules, and etiquette standards
- Conduct regular course inspections to identify and address operational issues
- Manage starter and ranger operations to ensure smooth course flow and player satisfaction
Customer Service Excellence
- Deliver exceptional customer service experiences across all guest touchpoints
- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and efficiency
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regular players, members, and golf groups
- Create and implement customer retention and satisfaction programs
- Train staff in customer service best practices and golf etiquette
- Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements based on customer insights
- Serve as primary point of contact for VIP guests and special accommodations
Tournament & Event Management
- Plan, coordinate, and execute all golf tournaments, corporate outings, and special events
- Manage complete event logistics from initial planning through post-event follow-up
- Coordinate with pro shop, food service, and maintenance teams for seamless event execution
- Handle tournament registration, player communications, and scoring systems
- Organize awards ceremonies, prizes, and recognition events
- Develop custom golf packages for corporate clients and group bookings
- Maintain tournament calendar and ensure proper course setup for events
- Build relationships with tournament organizers and repeat corporate clients
Operational Support
- Supervise golf operations staff including starters, rangers, and pro shop personnel
- Monitor daily operations to ensure efficiency and quality standards
- Assist with basic administrative and financial tracking as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on golf course operations experience
- Demonstrated expertise in customer service and guest relations
- Proven track record in tournament planning and event management
- Strong knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and course operations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in golf management software, tee time systems, and tournament software
- Ability to work flexible schedules including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate golf carts and course equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- PGA membership or golf industry certifications (optional)
- Experience with large-scale tournament coordination (100 participants)
- Background in hospitality or customer service management
- Knowledge of course maintenance practices and turf management
- Experience with corporate golf event planning and client relationship management
