POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Accounts Receivable & Deduction Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely application of all cash receipts. This role serves as a key gatekeeper in the revenue cycle, identifying and categorizing customer deductions to ensure they are routed efficiently across the organization for resolution.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately process and apply payments from Lockbox, ACH and Wire Transfer receipts, unapplied cash, and non-accounts receivable cash according to customer or Credit Department’s direction in a timely manner. Prepare in-house receipts.
- Contact customers for explanation on short payments.
- Identifies and investigate discrepancies in payments received, collaborates with department Credit Analysts to resolve payment issues, and communicates with departments across the organization.
- Assures there are processes to resolve problems timely.
- Downloads, reviews and, reconciles, daily payment activity.
- Analyzes and validates accuracy of information submitted by other departments.
- Scan documents into retention file program.
- Additional responsibilities may include some credit and collection responsibilities to support the credit function.
- All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES/DIRECT REPORTS
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree in Accounting or two to four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in detailed work.
- Be able to work with and interpret various numbers and combinations of numbers in relationship to discount items.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact successfully with people at all levels.
- Must be able to organize and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be able to handle exceptions to routine procedures.
- Be able to work under time constraint pressures.
- PC skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong ten key calculator ability a must.
