Facilities Custodian

Reports To: Operations Manager

Role Summary

The Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment throughout the facility. This position performs routine cleaning and custodial duties after normal business hours, including offices located within or adjacent to the production areas. This role supports workplace safety and compliance with facility cleanliness standards.

Position Responsibilities-Tasks-Deliverables

All duties as assigned and the following specific activities.

• Clean and sanitize all office areas, including administrative offices, production offices, conference rooms, and common areas.
• Perform routine floor care including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot cleaning carpets and hard surfaces.
• Remove trash and recyclables from offices, restrooms, and designated areas; replace liners as needed.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and replenishment of paper products and soap.
• Clean breakrooms and kitchen areas, including countertops, sinks, tables, microwaves, and other appliances.
• Dust and wipe down desks, chairs, file cabinets, windowsills, and other office furniture.
• Safely clean offices located in or near production areas, following all safety and access protocols.
• Properly use and store cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
• Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to appropriate department.
• Follow company policies, safety rules, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality when cleaning offices and workspaces.

• Assigned areas are cleaned according to established schedules and standards with minimal rework and follow-up.
• All assigned daily and weekly cleaning tasks completed within scheduled shift without impacting production or office operations.
• Proper use of PPE, wet floor signage, and safe handling of chemicals.
• Timely reporting of safety hazards, maintenance issues, or spills.

Qualifications

Knowledge-Skills-Abilities

Education

• High School diploma or GED required.
  
  

Experience

• 1 year of custodial or janitorial experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals, tools, and equipment.
• Ability to work independently and mange time effectively.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion in office areas.
• Comfortable working after hours and around production environments.

• Ability to listen to directions, work well with others, and communicate directions to others.
  
  

Physical Capabilities

• Strength:
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 30-40 lbs., including trash bags, cardboard, and cleaning supplies.
• Movement:
• Standing and walking up to 90% of the time.
• Ability to bend, kneel and reach for extended periods of time.
• Manual dexterity for cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, and wiping surfaces.
• Ability to push/pull cleaning carts, trash bins, and janitorial equipment.
• Ability to remove and transport trash and recyclables from offices, restrooms, and common areas to designated disposal locations.
• Hearing:
• Ability to hear verbal instructions, safety alarms, equipment sounds, and facility announcements.
• Vision:
• Ability to visually inspect areas for cleanliness, spills, debris and safety hazards.
