The Vincent by Abby Senior Living is looking for a candidate for our LEAD RESIDENT CARE ASSOCIATE opportunity. You will be working a rotating 12 hour shift of 6a to 6p.
Qualifications
- Minimum one-year experience in the assisted living or other human services field preferred.
- Supervisory experience in a healthcare or service industry preferred.
- Desire to work with older adults
Position Summary:
Serves as lead on assigned shift and provides oversight of caregiver staff during their shift, ensure provision of quality resident care, and uphold residence philosophy and resident well-being. Provide direct assistance with activities of daily living and support to residents.
Primary Responsibilities:
Resident Services
- Provides oversight and guidance to the caregiver staff on duty in providing quality care and meeting the needs of residents in accordance with residence philosophy and policies.
- Adhere to each resident’s individual service plan and notify the Wellness Director of any changes in resident condition.
- Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
- Assist residents with their activities of daily living.
- Check on residents and document and report findings.
- Assist with resident activities.
- Assist with serving meals and supervise caregiver staff in the dining room.
- Ensure that dining room is cleaned after each meal service.
- Assist with cleaning and tidying residents’ rooms/apartments.
- Establish and maintain good relationship with residents and their families.
General Administrative Duties
- May assist in developing and maintaining a schedule for the caregiver staff that sufficiently meets the needs of residents and ensures proper staffing.
- Ensure required paperwork for providing resident care is completed and up to date.
- Review daily any and all communication tools used in providing resident care.
- Communicate residents’ needs with caregiver staff at change of shift and as needed.
Training
- Assist in onboarding new resident care staff.
- Lead by example, encourage teamwork, promote the residence philosophy, and provide ongoing coaching to employees.
- Establish open lines of communication to resident care staff, addressing any concerns or grievances they may have.
- Respond to on-the-job injuries in accordance with residence policies and procedures.
- Assist in the ongoing training of all resident care employees in accordance with residence policies, training programs, and state and federal regulations.
Physical Job Requirements
To fulfill job requirements, employee must be able to perform key physical task for extended periods of time. When supporting, lifting or transferring residents, proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by the residence must be used.
In a typical eight- hour day, employee will:
- Stand/walk up to six hours a day
- Sit up to two hours a day
- Frequently support up to 70 pounds
- Occasionally lift/carry up to 30 pounds
- Frequently kneel, bend, and reach
- Secure proper assistance for transferring and lifting of residents as needed.
