Do people tell you that you light up a room — or a phone call? The Village Reporter is looking for a friendly, upbeat Part-Time Advertisement Sales Representative who genuinely enjoys talking to people and helping local businesses grow.
Your week is about 80% on the phone — calling our established local business customers about their newspaper advertising — and about 20% out in the community, making friendly local visits and dropping off papers. You are the warm, familiar voice our advertisers look forward to hearing from.
The Schedule
Part-time, three days a week (about 20 to 24 hours) — meaningful work without a full-time commitment.
The Pay — A Floor, and No Ceiling
This position starts at Ohio minimum wage ($11/hour) as a guaranteed base, plus a light daily attendance bonus. On top of that, you earn uncapped commission on every advertising sale.
Actual earnings are directly tied to your own sales effort and work ethic. During heavy advertising sales cycles, our representatives average approximately $7 per hour in commission above their base pay, and motivated, high-performing reps earn $25 or more per hour. There is no ceiling on commission — what you earn is a direct reflection of the effort you put in.
