Information: The hourty pay range for this position is $40.7028 - $53.2470. The starting
hourly pay range is $40.7028 " $44.8748 (DOQ).
Brief Under general direction, performs technical civil and traffic engineering work
Description of moderate difficulty; Aids in the design & field inspection of civil & traffic
of Duties: engineering projects, including street resurfacing, water mains, sewers &
sidewalks; Duties include operation of sun/eying equipment, use of
AutoCad for engineering plan preparation, conducting speed studies and
traffic counts; Prepares quantities for preliminary cost estimates for water,
sewer, streets, alleys, and other public improvements; Researches
documents and historical information & maintains records; Interacts with
residents regarding engineering projects and related matters; Must be able
to foster and maintain positive professional relationships with other
engineering and surveying personnel, internal departments, contractors, and
the public; Performs other work-related duties, as assigned. Duties may
vary by season. Must follow al! safety rules of the Village.
Required High school diploma required; Completion of coliege course work desired,
Traininq and Engineering or related studies preferred; Three years' experience in sub-
Knowtedqe: professional civil or traffic engineering, or combination of training &
experience; Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry
and its application to field surveying & engineering computations; Must
possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Use of AutoCad, GIS, and relevant surveying applications; Familiar with
Microsoft Office Suite applications; Must possess and maintain a valid
Driver's License.

JOB PURPOSE
Under genera! direction, performs technical Civil and Traffic Engineering work of moderate
difficulty, participating in sub-professional field work and related work in the office.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participates in the preliminary design and field inspection of Civil Engineering projects
- Uses AutoCad for engineering plan preparation.
- Operates survey equipment and takes field notes.
- Prepares reports, inspects & measures quantities for payment for various civii and traffic
- Researches departmental records for information and historical data on particuiar
Technicians recommendations.
- Assists with speed studies and traffic counts

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

OTHER NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS / LICENSES

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
The duties performed by this position are representative of "medium work" with occasional
exertion of approximateiy 50 pounds of force (removing & replacing manhote covers). The
work is both indoor and outdoor. The indoor environment is an office-type area that is quiet
except for office/communications equipment background noises. The outdoor environment is
normal "on-the-street" noises and construction sites, inciuding noises from construction
equipment and the related work activities.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk,
listen, hear the normal range of sounds; use hands to handle or fee! objects, tools or controls;
and reach with hands and arms. in the outdoor environment, the position requires physical
flexibility and normal endurance. The employee walks the job site to inspect, bends down to
mark and measure, and carries construction layout tools & equipment.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for proofreading documents,
ability to adjust focus while working on hardware and be absent from colorbtindness.
