COMMUNITY PROFILE:
The Village of Olympia Fields, Illinois, a residential community of nearly 5,000 residents, located 30 miles south of Chicago, is seeking to fill the position of a full time Finance Assistant.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Finance Supervisor, the full time Finance Assistant is a multi-faceted position, which provides varied accounting support and customer service for the Finance Department. The ideal candidate will be able to work well under pressure while meeting deadlines, have the ability to prioritize and multi-task with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Must be dependable, highly organized, and have good written and verbal communication skills.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
- Prepare and process all accounts payable payments to Village vendors, prepare AP reports for Board of Trustees meetings.
- Supports Utility Billing to ensure accurate preparation and issuance of water bills.
- Handle electronic and automated payment options
- Compile cash receipts and daily online payments.
- Address resident/customer needs at the window and on the phone
- Process resident/customer payments at the window
- Compile, process and distribute various Finance reports.
- Manage resident grant programs.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the Public Works Department
- Other ad hoc projects as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE):
- Associate Degree in the related fields of accounting, business, finance or an equivalent combination of education and municipal government experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in public finance operations
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications, experience with navigating vendor portals, experience with BS&A (Municipal Software) is a plus.
SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION:
- Full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, IMRF pension, vacation time, paid holidays and sick days.
- General work hours include Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Salary range for this position is $51,000 - $56,000, commensurate with experience.
