Full-Time (40 hours per week): $139, 360 -$147,680 DOE
About The Position
The Village for Families & Children, a non-profit agency over 200 years old, in the Hartford-area, seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join a team of dedicated professionals providing cutting edge behavioral health services, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for the treatment of opioid addiction. (The Village will pay for any costs associated with an APRN becoming MAT certified, if the individual wishes to participate in that service.) Village programs target individuals and families affected by substance use,trauma and other issues. The programs utilize best practice models of treatment, including feedback-informed, solution focused, relapse prevention, harm reduction strategies, and mobile outreach to assist our clients with reaching their therapy goals.
Based on need and interest, this role can include an array of treatment level exposures, including, but not limited to working in outpatient, short or subacute residential, urgent crisis centers, and extended day treatment.

Responsibilities
- Clinical Responsibilities
- Providespsychiatric assessment, evaluation, psychopharmacological follow-up, and monitoring of treatment in collaboration with The Village licensed supervising physicianin accordance with agency policies and procedures andcurrent licensing practices.
- Provides back-up to psychiatric consultants and clinical staff as needed including emergency situations.
- Provides consultation and training to clinical staff as needed.
- Participates as a member of interdisciplinary teams.
- Completes documentation as required by agency practices and licensing requirements.
- Participates in community outreach for substance use treatment with a multi-disciplinary team
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
- Administrative /Leadership Responsibilities
- Participates in continuous improvement and monitoring of implementation of psychiatric policies and procedures.
- Participates in the ongoing development of standards for clinical practice at The Village.
Required Experience:
- Masters of Science in Nursing, Board eligible or board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
- CT licensure as an APRN with prescriptive privileges.
- A minimum of two years clinical experience working with individuals/groups/families . Experience and training working with child and adolescent populations.
- Specific Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements : Extensive experience working with culturally diverse populations, a wide age range, and a variety of clinical presentations; Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills; Diagnostic expertise , and administration skills; Proficiency with word processing and general computer skills .
- Personal Characteristics : Good organizational, communication and supervisory skills ; F lexible and able to multi-task; Ability to function autonomously in day to day responsibilities, yet, seek consultation appropriately when needed; organized and able to work independently, with minimal supervision .
- Cultural Competency : Bilingual /bicultural skills strongly preferred; Cultural competenc y to serve a diverse population .
- Physical Abilities : Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations . These essential functions include , but are not limited to the ability to function safely in a therapeutic situation.
