About the Role:
This role is a hands-on Supervisor responsible for leading second-shift welding & fabrication operations while contributing to production as needed. The position focuses on driving safety, quality, productivity, and team performance to meet customer requirements. You will oversee daily workflow across multiple weld areas, materials, and thicknesses, while also managing general labor resources and brake press nightly schedules and performance to ensure efficient operations and consistent execution of company standards.
Hours & Pay
Schedule: Monday–Thursday 2:00pm–Midnight
Pay Range: $60,000 - $77,000 annually
Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Direct and oversee second-shift welding production and general labor activities
- Assign work and balance workloads across welding and brake press operations
- Manage nightly brake press schedules, ensuring jobs are prioritized and completed on time
- Monitor and drive brake press performance, addressing delays, inefficiencies, and quality issues
- Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable to goals
- Monitor workflow, staffing, and output to meet production targets
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Enforce company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees; address performance issues proactively
- Communicate shift performance, priorities, and challenges to management
Team Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for second-shift welding and fabrication teams
- Coordinate with brake press operators to ensure schedules and priorities are clearly communicated
- Collaborate with supervisors and support departments to resolve issues
- Provide feedback on staffing levels, equipment needs, and production priorities
- Lead by example through professionalism, work ethic, and technical skill
Technical & Production
- Perform welding in flat and vertical positions as needed to support production
- Troubleshoot fabrication and weld issues to minimize downtime
- Ensure adherence to welding procedures, blueprints, and specifications
- Adjust welding equipment and processes for optimal performance
- Verify accurate measurements and proper setup of materials
Safety
- Maintain and enforce safe working conditions across welding, brake press, and general labor areas
- Identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately
- Lead safety initiatives and participate in continuous improvement efforts
- Respond effectively to emergencies and support incident investigations
Quality Assurance
- Ensure all in-process and final quality checks are completed
- Verify work meets customer and internal quality requirements
- Support corrective and preventative actions to improve quality performance
- Promote adherence to quality standards and documentation
Requirements
Education / Training
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical degree in welding, fabrication, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of welding experience required
- Welding certification (AWS or equivalent) preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Lean manufacturing training and/or experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Moderate to advanced welding skills (flat and vertical positions)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding specifications
- Strong leadership, coaching, and workforce management skills
- Experience or ability to manage production schedules and equipment performance (including brake press operations)
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in measuring tools and welding equipment adjustments
- Basic computer skills and understanding of manufacturing processes
- Self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and professionalism
Travel Requirements
- Minimal; within Village Companies locations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 25–50 lbs (short durations)
- Ability to sit, stand, and bend throughout the workday

- Hand and power tools (pliers, screwdrivers, drills, tape measures, etc.)

- PPE (safety glasses, gloves, welding helmet, ear plugs as required)
