We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive science curricula aligned with educational standards and student needs.
- Design engaging lesson plans incorporating various teaching methods, including the use of learning technology and hands-on laboratory activities.
- Deliver clear, effective instruction in subjects such as biology (cell biology, microbiology, genetics, molecular biology), chemistry (organic chemistry, biochemistry), physics (geometry, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations), and mathematics (algebra, discrete math).
- Manage classroom environments to promote positive behavior and active participation through effective behavior management strategies.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, formative assessments, and project-based evaluations; provide timely feedback to students and parents.
- Mentor students in scientific research projects, laboratory experiments (dissection experience preferred), and academic pursuits such as tutoring or preparation for standardized tests.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school initiatives.
- Engage in professional development activities to stay current with educational best practices and advances in science education.
- Support extracurricular activities related to science clubs or competitions; serve as an advisor or mentor for students interested in scientific research or library services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field; advanced degrees such as Master’s or higher preferred.
- Valid NJ teaching certification for middle school science or equivalent licensure/endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience teaching science at the middle school level; charter school experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of scientific disciplines including biology (cell biology, microbiology, genetics), chemistry (organic chemistry), physics (geometry, calculus), and mathematics (algebra).
- Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, instructional design, and classroom management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage students effectively and collaborate with colleagues.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting special education needs preferred.
