Position Title: Environmental Service Technician
Shift Availability: Full-Time (40 Hours)
Overview: The Environmental Service Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and overall appearance of the common areas. This includes daily cleaning tasks in common areas, such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash removal, sanitizing surfaces, and event set-ups. The individual in this role plays a crucial part in creating a welcoming and sanitary environment for residents, guests, and associates. Reports to Transition Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to work flexible hours including some evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Requires cleaning and dusting of various surfaces (counter tops, furniture, tile floors, etc.)
- Responsible for checking event forms and setting up / breaking down rooms appropriately.
- Collect, transport rollaway beds, furniture, and equipment when needed.
- General cleaning and upkeep of common areas and other assigned areas of the facility.
- Responsible for floor care, including cleaning baseboards, carpet shampooing, grout cleaning, tile scrubbing, and stripping and waxing tile floors.
- Assist in setting up and cleaning common areas for special events or gatherings.
- Assist in event set ups and breakdown.
- Clean, scrub, and sanitize bathrooms.
- Responsible for keeping work, storage areas, and carts well-stocked, clean, and organized at all times.
- Responsible for stairwells, compactor rooms, trash rooms, elevators, and mechanical rooms.
- Vacuuming of carpeting in assigned common areas such as lobbies and hallways.
- Restock all supply rooms when appropriate.
- Collect and dispose of all trash and recycling inside and outside the facility using specified bag and/or containers
- Clean all inside and outside windows as assigned.
- Maintain clean and professional appearance.
- Adheres to company policies and procedures
- Attend departmental education and all required in-service training/education
- Maintain confidentiality of resident/family and facility information
- Respond to all fire alarms and assist in the evacuation of residents when needed
- Cooperate with staff of other departments when needed.
- Represent the organization through professional demeanor and attitude
- Provide quality customer service in all interactions with residents, guests and staff
- Report Housekeeping and Maintenance issues for work order
- Perform other duties as required
You Have:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred, may be working towards high school diploma or equivalent
- Two-years cleaning / housekeeping experience preferred
- Experience with carpet care/ cleaning equipment. (preferred but not required)

CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE:
- Working knowledge of chemicals used in cleaning; ability to read labels and warnings on cleaning products
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal communication
- Able to work well with others, including staff, supervisor, residents, families, volunteers and the public
- Self-starter and ability to work with very little supervision
EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
- Upright, handheld, and wet vacuums
- Spill kits
- General cleaning tools
- Chair dolly
- Floor cleaning equipment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and travel between buildings by walking or by golf cart.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs
- Push and pull 140 lb. cleaning/chemical cart
- Climb ladder or step stool; climb stairs
- Bending, stooping and reaching overhead
- Ability to remove trash from compactor room and lift to shoulder height to put into dumpster.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Indoors, heated and air-conditioned common areas
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals
- Exposure to outdoor heat
- Potential for exposure to blood and / or other body fluids
- Outdoor exposure to weather conditions for long period of time
