Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and service-oriented Director of Dining Services to lead all culinary and dining operations within our senior living community. This leadership position is responsible for creating an exceptional dining experience for residents while overseeing menu development, food quality, kitchen operations, staff leadership, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and resident satisfaction.

Key ResponsibilitiesCulinary & Dining Leadership
- Direct and oversee all dining services, culinary operations, and food production.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served according to the highest standards of quality, taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Develop seasonal menus that are nutritious, appealing, and tailored to residents' needs and preferences.
- Maintain a restaurant-style dining experience that promotes resident satisfaction and engagement.
Resident Care & Nutrition
- Ensure compliance with physician-ordered diets and specialized nutrition plans, including diabetic, low-sodium, heart-healthy, pureed, and texture-modified diets.
- Collaborate with nursing, clinical, and care teams to meet residents' dietary requirements.
- Participate in resident care plan meetings as needed.
- Address resident and family dining concerns promptly and professionally.
Team Leadership
- Recruit, train, schedule, mentor, and supervise culinary and dining staff.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet operational needs.
Financial & Operational Management
- Manage departmental budgets, food costs, labor costs, purchasing, and inventory control.
- Negotiate with vendors and maintain cost-effective purchasing practices.
- Monitor waste reduction initiatives and improve operational efficiency.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate department records.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health, sanitation, and safety regulations.
- Maintain food safety standards and infection control procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections, audits, and quality assurance assessments.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature monitoring procedures.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience in food service, dining services, culinary operations, or hospitality management.
- At least 2 years of management experience supervising staff.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and nutritional standards.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, scheduling, inventory, and staffing.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred
- Experience in Senior Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Healthcare, or Hospitality environments.
- Culinary degree, hospitality degree, or related education.
- ServSafe Manager Certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Experience with therapeutic and specialized diets.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a commercial kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
