Restaurant Service Manager Job Summary

The Restaurant Service Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the front-of-house staff, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food and beverage quality. This role involves supervising and training service staff, managing customer inquiries and concerns, and ensuring smooth service flow during peak hours. The Restaurant Service Supervisor collaborates closely with the management team to uphold the restaurant's reputation for excellence and contribute to its overall success.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise Front-of-House Operations:Manage and oversee the performance of servers, hosts/hostesses, and other front-of-house staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.

2. Customer Service: Maintain a customer-focused approach by promptly addressing customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints to ensure exceptional dining experiences.

3. Staff Training and Development: Train new hires on service standards, menu knowledge, and customer interaction protocols. Conduct ongoing training sessions to enhance the skills and knowledge of existing staff members.

4. Service Coordination:Coordinate seating arrangements, manage reservations, and ensure smooth service flow during peak hours to minimize wait times and maximize customer satisfaction.

5. Quality Control: Monitor food and beverage quality, presentation, and consistency to uphold the restaurant's standards of excellence. Address any issues promptly and effectively.

6. Inventory Management: Assist in inventory control by monitoring stock levels of front-of-house supplies, such as linens, utensils, and cleaning supplies. Place orders as needed to maintain adequate inventory levels.

7. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations by maintaining cleanliness standards, enforcing proper sanitation practices, and adhering to food safety guidelines.

8. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the kitchen staff, management team, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication between front-of-house and back-of-house operations.

9. Performance Evaluation: Conduct performance evaluations for front-of-house staff, providing constructive feedback and recognizing exceptional performance. Address performance issues in a timely and professional manner.

10. Administrative Tasks: Assist in administrative duties, such as scheduling shifts, preparing reports, and handling payroll-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant industry preferred.

- Strong leadership and communication skills.

- Excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities.

- Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including menu items and wine pairings.

- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.

- Attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

- Certification in food safety and sanitation is a plus.

Education:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Additional certification or training in hospitality management is an advantage.
