Responsibilities
- Assist licensed occupational therapists in developing and executing individualized care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Support patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises to promote independence.
- Provide hands-on assistance during therapy sessions within Assisted Living.
- Help monitor patient progress by documenting responses to therapy interventions and communicating updates to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and safety measures to enhance recovery at home or in the community.
- Contribute to the preparation of treatment areas and ensure all equipment aligns with safety standards and clinical protocols.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—including physicians, therapists, nurses, and social workers—to optimize patient care outcomes.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and occupational health principles essential for effective patient support.
- Experience assisting with ADLs across diverse populations
- Ability to interpret plans of care accurately and adapt interventions accordingly while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication skills for educating patients and working seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams.
