Job Description
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will work on multiple fast-paced projects, working with senior staff, and providing field oversight on a variety of projects. The APM will assist their assigned supervisor with execution of assigned tasks, production of on time and high-quality individual work product, and positive coordination with other team members as assigned or requested in order to produce work product. The APM is responsible for supporting the success of their assigned subpractice area and project as highest priority. The APM will perform assigned tasks in a manner that models the Company’s core values and inspires and encourages goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity among the team.

The pay range for this role is:
$47,000.00 - $112,000.00 USD annually (Geographical Tier A - Sample Locations: Irvine CA, Middlesex NJ, Tacoma WA, Boston, Alexandria)

Core Responsibilities
Work Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members
- Understand requirements of all project documents including plans, specifications, technical reports, planning documentation and financial reports to be fully able to assist your assigned supervisor in carrying out Vertex OPM responsibilities.
- Schedule, prepare for, attend, and memorialize project meetings. Follow up on all assigned tasks without oversight and reminding.
- Prepare high quality reports to document and communicate project progress reflective of the standard of excellence established at Vertex.
- Assist Project Managers in procuring designers, contractors, and other vendors in accordance with client requirements and procedures.
- On public projects, become familiar with and comply with public procurement regulations.
- Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to proactively monitor own progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self or in collaboration with other assigned team members is consistently high quality
- Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by company leadership
- Coordinate and support other team members as assigned, with emphasis on positivity and in support of a culture that is empowered to execute
- Conduct self in support of driving towards defined objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Travel as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
- Support quality control of service delivery with all individual work product production, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality
- Collaborate with other team members in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation to Supervisor of any client, team member or operational challenges
- Be aware of and work in a manner that supports the organization’s vision and defined business objectives
- Conduct self and collaborate with others in working toward achievement of defined profit objectives of assigned projects
- Cooperate in construction of strong cross-functional teams (cooperate with any suggested project assignments outside of original assigned practice area) to achieve success in shared goals, understanding that multiple perspectives and talents build stronger teams and results
- Complete daily tasks consistent
- Bachelor's degree and up to 2 years of related experience
- Candidates should be familiar with interpreting construction drawings, specifications, contracts, estimating and take-offs, and as-built drawings.
- Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under high stress conditions
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Efficient, well-organized and positive attitude when approached with challenges and realities of construction management and consulting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience in providing reliable work product review as assigned
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers and Supervisors, and clients, subcontractors, and vendors as assigned
