Associate Attorney (Family Law)

The Vern McCray Law Firm seeks a licensed, energetic and client-centered Associate Attorney to join our well-established (and growing!) family law practice in Camas, WA. The Associate Attorney position reports directly to Principal Attorney Vern McCray.

• A commission-based compensation package including a split with generous bonuses. The total annual compensation range depends upon performance/caseload but typically ranges between $120,000 and $180,000 per year.

What are the Essential Responsibilities for the Associate Attorney- Family Law?

• Offer legal counsel and effectively communicate with clients facing family law and other matters.
• Draft and review legal documents, negotiate settlements, conduct legal research, and represent clients in court proceedings.
• Maintain regular communication with clients and support staff to manage case schedules efficiently.
• Ensure meticulous organization of case files and documentation for accurate record-keeping.
• Other responsibilities as organizational needs require.

Which Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities would you bring to the Vern McCray Law Firm?

• Membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar Association is a requirement.
• Solid knowledge of Clark County Local Court Rules.
• Two to five years’ experience litigating family law cases.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex legal documents and statutes.
• Approachable with a demonstrated ability to establish rapport and foster positive working relationships with clients, staff, and other stakeholders.
• Organized and reliable with exceptional follow through.
• Solves and de-escalate issues in a calm, effective manner.
• Professional and confident with a strong work ethic and integrity.
• Adept at managing competing priorities; flexible and adaptive based upon organizational needs.
• Effective communication and presentation skills, written and oral.
• Computer proficiency including past use of Microsoft 365 programs (including Outlook, Word, and Excel).
• Capable using Zoom for video meetings.
• Familiarity with Adobe and e-filing. Past use of FamilySoft document assembly software is preferred but not required.
• Valid driver license. Local travel is necessary within Clark County. Occasional travel is anticipated in Skamania and Klickitat counties. Driving is an essential function of this position.
