Club Overview

The Venice Golf and Country Club is an 18-Hole, member-owned private club in Venice, FL. VGCC has 360 golf members, playing 32,000 rounds per year. The golf staff consists of Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professional, Merchandiser and 2 golf shop staff members.

Requirements:

·        High School Degree - College degree preferred

·        Minimum 2 years buying experience in retail - golf shop retail preferred

·        Experience with POS systems, Tee Time systems, and general golf knowledge

·        Must be able to stand on their feet for extended periods of time

·        Must be able to lift and/or carry items that are at most 30 pounds

Responsibilities/Job Duties/Tasks

·        The Golf Shop Merchandiser will support the Director of Golf with the supervision of the golf merchandise concession and overall daily operation of the golf shop.

·        All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of member and guest service with a focus on total customer satisfaction.

·        Their involvement is wide ranging and not just limited to golf shop apparel and merchandise.

·        The Golf Shop Merchandiser assists everyone associated with the golf operation in the management of day-to-day golf operations of the facility.

·        This position is tasked with providing a high level of member service regarding; counter assistance, i.e. tee times, check-in and billing procedures, event registration, general club and operational information, answering telephones, and opening/closing procedures, and general cleanliness of golf shop.

·        Meet with vendors to order merchandise for the golf shop

·        Maintains levels of product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through golf shop

·        This position will also order, document and track special orders, promote golf product sales and implement inventory controls with an emphasis on maximizing sales and profitability through the development and implementation of strategies, analysis and appropriate reactions to sales trends.

·        Creates a diverse and desirable array of apparel and accessories displays

·        Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop

·        Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale, including orders, receiving records, invoices, vendor statements and special-order records to document merchandise history

·        Handles quarterly physical inventory counts

·        Monitors safeguarding of inventory and assets to reduce loss from theft, pilferage, defective/damaged goods, returns and markdowns

·        Manage vendor performance

·        Analyze sales and study trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns and clearance sales

·        Attend merchandise shows and conferences within the limits of the budget

·        Supervises: The Golf Shop Merchandiser does not directly supervise fellow staff but should set a positive example for fellow staff to follow

·        Schedule: The Golf Shop Merchandiser will primarily work a schedule no more than 40 hours per week. However, based on required service levels, major golf events and seasonal trends, the above-mentioned hours could be more or less.
