Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager – Operational Accounting is to assist with the day-to-day oversight, review, and direction for all gaming audits and ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and The Venetian Resort’s departmental standard operating procedure requirements. This includes planning, risk assessment, fieldwork and reporting on multiple projects of considerable scope and complexity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise and support Operational Accounting team members by promoting accountability, teamwork, communication, and team member development.
- Provide coaching, guidance, training, and cross-training opportunities to team members.
- Oversee the hiring and performance management of the team, including issuance of corrective action as needed.
- Coordinate and prioritize team assignments to ensure timely and accurate completion of daily, weekly, and month-end responsibilities.
- Review and approve team member timekeeping records and schedules.
- Support departmental initiatives and process improvement efforts.
- Preparing and/or reviewing all gaming revenue journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Review audit workpapers and operational accounting reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Monitor daily accounting activities to ensure transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting activities.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of assigned accounting tasks and reporting deadlines.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, automation, and internal processes.
- Ensure compliance with the property internal control standards, the established Minimum Internal Control Standards, and the regulations and statutes established by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests, regulatory reviews, and document preparation.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails in accordance with accounting regulatory requirements.
- Assist with all month-end, quarter-end, and annual compliance requirements of the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), Clark County, State of Nevada and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
- Identify operational or compliance risks and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Partner with departments including Cage, Slots, Table Games, Poker, Compliance, IT, and other operational teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in departmental and cross-functional projects as assigned.
- Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist management with special projects, reporting requests, and operational initiatives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- 21 years of age.
- Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain any valid Nevada Gaming Control Board registration and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting, audit, gaming, or related operational experience preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of accounting, auditing standards, principles and techniques preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in managing the collection, compilation, analysis, and collection of data.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other Team Members of different backgrounds and levels of experience.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to
- Lift or carry 20 pounds, unassisted, in the performance of specific tasks, as assigned.
- Physically access all areas of the property and drive areas with or without a reasonable accommodation.
