What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager Ecommerce position at The Van Mart?
The Van Mart is a leading direct-to-consumer retailer of premium parts and accessories for the Sprinter, Transit, and ProMaster van conversion market. Trusted by the top professional van builders in the United States and a growing community of DIY enthusiasts, we serve a customer base building some of the most ambitious van conversions in the country.
We are entering a critical phase of growth and are recruiting a Senior eCommerce Manager to lead the next stage of our digital business. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership, direct access to the founder, and a clear mandate to drive measurable revenue growth.
The Senior eCommerce Manager is responsible for the performance, operations, and growth of TheVanMart.com. This role owns the full digital P&L, including site operations, conversion optimization, lifecycle marketing, paid media oversight, and customer experience.
The successful candidate will operate as a true business owner — accountable for top-line revenue, margin performance, and the strategic roadmap for the eCommerce channel. This is not a coordinator role or a project management role. It is a senior operator role for a candidate with a demonstrated track record of growing DTC brands.
Revenue & Growth Ownership Lead the eCommerce P&L with accountability for revenue, gross margin, conversion rate, average order value, and customer lifetime value. Develop and execute quarterly growth plans against defined targets.
Site Operations & Merchandising Own day-to-day Shopify operations, including product launches, collection strategy, on-site merchandising, and user experience. Lead the site optimization roadmap, including landing page strategy, product detail page performance, and checkout flow.
Conversion Rate Optimization Establish and maintain a structured testing program. Prioritize, design, and analyze A/B tests across the customer journey, with clear hypotheses, success metrics, and post-test learnings.
Lifecycle Marketing Own the email and SMS programs end-to-end in Klaviyo. Build, optimize, and segment automated flows and campaigns. Drive measurable improvements in email revenue contribution, list growth, and retention metrics.
Paid Media Oversight Serve as the internal owner of the relationship with our external paid media agency (Meta and Google). Set strategic direction, define performance benchmarks, review creative, and hold the agency accountable to committed results.
Performance Reporting & Analytics Build and maintain weekly, monthly, and quarterly performance reporting. Present results, insights, and recommendations directly to the founder. Maintain a single source of truth for key metrics.
Vendor & Supplier Coordination Partner with manufacturers, suppliers, and content partners on product launches, inventory planning, and brand collaborations.
Customer Experience Oversee post-purchase experience, reviews, retention initiatives, and customer support escalations.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in DTC eCommerce, with demonstrated ownership of a brand's digital P&L
- Proven track record of driving 20% year-over-year revenue growth at a Shopify-based DTC brand
- Direct experience managing a brand in the $2M–$15M annual revenue range
- Advanced expertise in Klaviyo, including flow architecture, segmentation strategy, and revenue attribution
- Strong working knowledge of Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads, with the ability to evaluate agency performance critically
- Proficiency in Shopify analytics, Google Analytics 4, and standard DTC reporting frameworks (MER, ROAS, contribution margin, LTV)
- Demonstrated experience managing external agencies, including setting performance expectations and holding partners accountable
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience marketing high-AOV considered purchases (automotive, outdoor, home, furniture, or technical product categories)
- Background working with brands serving enthusiast or community-driven customer bases
- Direct experience in or genuine knowledge of van life, overlanding, automotive aftermarket, or adjacent verticals
- Experience building or scaling creative production pipelines
In the interest of mutual fit, we want to be transparent about what this position is and is not. This role is not appropriate for candidates seeking:
- A team management role (this is an individual contributor position)
- A purely strategic position with limited execution responsibility
- An environment with extensive process layers or multi-stakeholder approval cycles
- A role at a brand operating at significantly larger scale than ours
We are seeking a senior operator who is comfortable owning outcomes directly and executing alongside strategic thinking.
