Position Summary
The Senior Human Resources Generalist serves as a strategic partner to the Director of Human Resources and is responsible for supporting and administering a wide range of Human Resources functions, including payroll administration, benefits administration, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compliance, HRIS administration, leave management, and special projects.
This position requires a highly skilled HR professional who can exercise independent judgment, maintain strict confidentiality, provide guidance to managers and employees, and serve as a key resource in supporting the Club's human resources operations. The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws while fostering a positive employee experience and supporting organizational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll.
- Audit timecards, labor allocations, PTO balances, and payroll adjustments for accuracy.
- Review overtime, meal period penalties, and attendance reports.
- Partner with department managers to resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Generate payroll reports and analytics for leadership.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA, and retirement plans.
- Process enrollments, qualifying life events, and benefit terminations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment activities.
- Maintain benefit records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for assigned positions.
- Create and post job advertisements.
- Screen applicants and coordinate interviews.
- Conduct reference and background checks.
- Prepare offer letters and onboarding documentation.
Leave Administration
- Administer leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, Pregnancy Disability Leave, Paid Family Leave, ADA accommodations, and workers' compensation coordination.
- Maintain accurate leave documentation and records.
- Communicate with employees, managers, and third-party administrators regarding leave requests and return-to-work processes.
Compliance and HR Administration
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with policy development and employee handbook updates.
- Maintain personnel files and electronic employee records.
- Conduct internal HR audits and compliance reviews.
- Coordinate required labor law postings and employee notices.
- Track licenses, certifications, trainings, and required acknowledgments.
Performance Management and Training
- Assist with performance review administration and annual merit increase processes.
- Support leadership development and management training programs.
- Coordinate employee training initiatives and compliance training requirements.
- Prepare reports and metrics related to employee performance and development.
HRIS and Reporting
- Maintain employee information within HRIS, payroll, and benefits systems.
- Generate and analyze HR metrics and reports.
- Assist with HR technology implementation, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Support data integrity and reporting accuracy across systems.
Special Projects
- Participate in compensation studies, organizational development initiatives, and process improvement projects.
- Assist with employee surveys and engagement programs.
- Support strategic HR initiatives as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Knowledge of California employment law, wage and hour regulations, FMLA, CFRA, ADA, and other employment-related laws.
- Ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to exercise independent decision-making.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
