Role - Formulation Manager
Location - Hanover, PA
Salary - $104,000-150,000 bonus, profit sharing and benefits

My Client is a well-established global organization with a long-standing reputation for developing and manufacturing innovative agricultural solutions. With decades of industry experience, the business specializes in crop adjuvants, plant growth regulators, nutritional fertilizers, specialty agrochemicals, and other advanced crop input technologies.
Role:
Lead the development, optimization, and commercial scale-up of agricultural product formulations. This position will oversee formulation research and development projects, provide leadership to a team of formulation scientists, and drive innovation to ensure products meet the highest standards of performance, stability, quality, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across R&D, Agronomy, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Commercial functions to successfully develop and launch innovative agricultural products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the formulation development of fertilizers, biostimulants, adjuvants, and other agricultural crop input products.
- Manage formulation scale-up activities, successfully transitioning products from laboratory development through pilot trials into commercial manufacturing.
- Direct strategic R&D initiatives while mentoring and developing formulation scientists and technical staff.
- Evaluate new raw materials, ingredients, and emerging technologies to improve product performance and support innovation.
- Ensure all formulation activities comply with applicable agricultural, chemical, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain detailed technical documentation, project records, and formulation data while driving continuous improvement across development processes.
- Support the introduction of new technologies that enhance product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and customer value.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master's or PhD in Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Formulation Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and significant industry experience will also be considered.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience developing and commercializing agricultural formulations.
- Demonstrated expertise in formulation development, optimization, and commercial scale-up within the agricultural or specialty chemicals industry.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to manage technical projects and develop high-performing scientific teams.
- Hands-on experience using analytical techniques such as HPLC, spectroscopy, rheometry, and other formulation characterization methods.
- Working knowledge of formulation ingredients including surfactants, emulsifiers, dispersants, and related chemistries.
- Solid understanding of agricultural regulatory frameworks including EPA, REACH, and EU Fertilizer Regulations.
- Excellent communication, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
