Abilities Required:

  • Must be proficient with computers
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and professionally both in the spoken and written word
  • Strong ability to work as a team as independently
  • Must possess organizational, planning, information gathering, information monitoring, problem analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Must possess judgment and decision-making ability, initiative, confidentiality, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must have Associates or Bachelors Degree
  • Valid NYS Drivers License

Responsibilities:

  • Complete pre-screens on all Veterans that seek assistance.
  • Conduct community outreach
  • Work with other agencies to ensure Veterans in need are being reached.
  • Compile data for monthly reports
  • Complete and file all applicable reports provide direct client services
  • Perform eligibility assessments to determine that Veterans are eligible for SSVF Assistance determined by the CNYVOC, that the Veteran is homeless or at imminent risk.
  • Provide holistic and comprehensive case management services to all clients, with a strong focus on SSVF tenants: including intake assessment, benefit assessment, goal setting, long –term case management, tenant education, advocacy, and referrals.
  • Assist the Housing Director with the maintenance of the housing binders, tenant leases, and other paperwork
  • Assist the Housing Director in monthly housing inspections
  • Identify opportunities for collaborative ventures with local apartment complexes, rental agencies, and owners of rental houses to begin the process of finding local affordable housing for Veterans.
  • Ensures all applicable regulations and guidelines are followed before requesting approval for assistance.
  • Connect families with needed and available community resources. Follow-up with clients and agencies as appropriate to document use/success of referral.
  • Help all Veterans and their families that are in need.
  • Attend community-based meetings when needed.
  • Work closely with the VA, DOL and any other government agencies and community agencies as needed.
  • Complete SOAR applications for eligible clients
  • Input HMIS data

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
