Medical Assistant – Float

$3000 Sign on bonus

Willamette Valley Cancer Institute is looking to add a Certified Medical Assistant Float to its team. Supporting various departments at our Main clinic in Corvallis, this MA would be the initial clinical points of contact for patients seeking our services. Floating between Corvallis, Albany, and Newport. You would be helping to room patients, assist with imaging orders, and supporting the various MA and administrative teams with daily assigned tasks. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $20.00-$34.03 The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity, etc.

Employment Type: Full Time – 1.0FTE (40hr/week)

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment room as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Will be required to travel to multiple worksites as needed.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc, as requested by supervisor or physician.
  • Greets patients and visitors to the office in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner. Checks in patients and informs clinical staff of patient arrival.
  • Provides and explains paperwork for the patient to complete prior to examination. Collects, proofs for completeness, and scans/files patient forms. Updates demographics and insurance information in the system. Collects co-pays and balances; provides receipts. Answers phone calls promptly and professionally.
  • Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions via phone, electronic communications, or face-to-face contact; routes to appropriate personnel or takes thorough messages. Pages clinical personnel as appropriate. Communicates messages accurately and timely according to procedures.
  • Records patient cancellations and missed appointments; reschedules appointments. Notifies appropriate staff of cancellations and makes notes in patient charts.
  • Schedules outside consults/procedures ordered by providers.
  • Provides general administrative support by scanning/filing charts and forms or ensuring they are sent to the appropriate department/personnel. Maintains a legible supply of forms and appropriate office supplies required for daily activities.
  • Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal, and HIPAA laws and guidelines regarding patient records.
  • Maintains chart messages and queue items.
  • Scans and copies updated insurance cards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 3 years of experience
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants
  • CMA certification preferred
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire
