What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Experience Associate position at The Urban Hive?
Community Experience Associate Position Description
The Urban Hive · Sacramento, CA (On-site)
Employment Type: Part-Time (10–20 hrs/week)
Compensation: $22-55/hour commensurate with experience
About the Urban Hive:
The Urban Hive is Sacramento’s premier coworking and event space. Housed in a striking historic building, we are a vibrant membership community grounded in connection, culture, and meaningful work. We bring together local entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators through regular art residencies, creative workshops, pitch nights, and community gatherings.
Why join our team?
- Work in a Creative Environment: Spend your workday surrounded by art residencies, local innovators, and high-energy events.
- Great Shift for Hospitality Pros: Love the fast-paced, guest-first energy of food, beverage, or retail, but want an entry point into event management and workspace operations? This is the ideal transition.
- Room to Grow: As an actively growing organization, this role offers a clear path toward a Community Experience Lead position.
Responsibilities:
- Host & Connect: Warmly greet members and guests by name, setting an inviting, high-touch hospitality tone.
- Café & Space Operations: Keep café stations stocked and pristine while maintaining the readiness and cleanliness of all common areas and meeting rooms.
- Event Logistics: Support setup, breakdown, and day-of execution for meetings, workshops, art showcases, and events.
- Communication & Inquiries: Respond promptly to member needs and booking inquiries on Slack, email, and phone; manage shift handoffs smoothly using Asana.
What we are looking for:
- People-First & Hospitable: Genuine, warm, and attentive (restaurant, retail, or guest services experience is a big plus).
- Strong Ability to Task-Switch: Effortlessly pivot between greeting guests, café prep, responding on Slack, and preparing event spaces.
- Fast-Paced Energy: We move fast here with genuine energy and purpose. If you naturally pick up the pace and look for what needs doing next, you'll thrive. If you prefer a slower, more relaxed pace, this isn't the right fit.
- Punctual & Proactive: On time, dependable, detail-oriented, and confident taking ownership of the space without waiting for direct supervision.
Requirements and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and load packages onto a dolly weighing 15–40 lbs (packages, event tables, chairs, beverage crates, and café supplies).
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and staying active throughout a shift.
- Comfortable with using Google Workspace (gmail, calendar, docs)
- Tech-comfortable (or quick to learn Slack, Asana)
Schedule:
- 10–20 hours per week (variable based on business needs and event schedules).
- Primary shifts are weekday daytime, with occasional evening and weekend event coverage.
- Flexibility required
