Role Summary
The Tree Care & Equipment Technician
("Mil-Usos”) is the ultimate multi-disciplinary asset within our field operations. This role is designed for a versatile, detail-oriented operator capable of deploying across multiple specialized domains—including Plant Health Care (PHC), heavy equipment trailering and operation, stump grinding, and aerial lift deployment.
Your mission is to eliminate operational bottlenecks for our main production crews, ensure precision chemical and root-zone applications, and execute technical equipment work safely and efficiently across commercial and residential sites.
Core Responsibilities
- Heavy Equipment Operations & Logistics
- Precision Operation: Safely transport and operate mini-loaders, full-size loaders, stump grinders, and manlifts on both residential and commercial work sites.
- Logistics & Trailering: Master safe loading, weight distribution, tie-down protocols, and trailering across all specialized equipment and rigs.
- Property Protection: Operate all equipment without causing damage to turf, hardscapes, or surrounding structures.
- Plant Health Care (PHC) and Chemical Application
- Trunk Injections: Perform target micro and macro injections for pest and disease management following precise dosing guidelines.
- Herbicide & Pesticide Application: Execute chemical treatments safely, utilizing proper PPE, calibrated application equipment, and drift prevention measures.
- Diagnostic Assistance: Report pest infestations, structural decline, and soil issues to the Arbor Team.
- Equipment Stewardship & Fleet Readiness:
- Pre/Post Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough daily inspections of all assigned trucks, trailers, and machinery.
- Field Maintenance: Perform routine field upkeep (greasing pivot points, changing stump grinder teeth, inspecting hydraulic hoses, cleaning chemical tanks.)
- Rapid Escalation: Immediately report, log, and escalate equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs within 24 hours to prevent operational downtime.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ansi Z133 Standards: Adhere strictly to industry safety guidelines regarding aerial lifts, minimum approach distances, and chemical handling.
- Chemical Safety & Storage: Maintain proper SDS logs, spill kits, and personal protective equipment (PPE) compliance for all hazardous material handling.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Safety: Zero preventable vehicle, equipment, or chemical damage incidents.
- Efficiency: Complete assigned utility/stump/PHC tickets within estimated hours.
- Compliance: 100% accutate chemical application logs and SDS compliance.
- Uptime: Keep assigned utility rigs and machinery clean and at 95% operational uptime.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Language Proficiency: Professionally bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- Driver Requirements: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required, CDL highly preferred.
- Certifications: TDA Applicators License (or ability to obtain), TCIA or OSHA Aerial Lift Certification. All preferred.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in extreme weather conditions, and handle heavy machinery for extended periods.
