Job Summary

BEFORE YOU APPLY:

This is a "flex" schedule position that requires you to be available to work during any hours that we are open, 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. M-F and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Also, you must have the flexibility to have your schedule moved around on short-notice if, for example, we need to change your hours to cover another employee who is out. Our hours are generally very employee-friendly (we close at 6 on M-F, not 10 or 11, and Sat. it's 2 p.m.), so we will expect you to be free to work during those times.

SUMMARY:

Provide our customers with efficient and effective service that exceeds their expectations while promoting products and services to meet their needs. Pack items securely, according to company standards, in a way that represents the level of utmost care that we are committed to providing to all customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Greet customers in a friendly manner; determine customer needs and figure out how to exceed their expectations.
• Deliver exceptional customer service through customer engagement and quality product delivery.
• Be knowledgeable of products and services offered and properly promote them to customers.
• Identify customer needs and offer additional services that could benefit them.
• Record all sales transactions completely and accurately in Point of Sale system.
• Pack contents for shipping using established procedures and products.
• Receive and prepare documents for printing.
• Receive and process packages for shipping, including lifting and weighing packages, accessing shipment manifesting software and generating labels. May require retrieving packages from customer's vehicle when requested.
• Assist in merchandising the store, including: stocking shelves with product, ensuring clean and orderly appearance of product and informing appropriate personnel of inventory levels for re-ordering supplies.
• Operate copiers, fax machines, and all other office machines in a safe, efficient and productive manner. Help customers operate office machines located in retail area.
• General housekeeping duties.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:

• Six months — two years customer service and sales experience in a retail environment. Point of Sale ("POS") and computer experience highly desirable.
• Ability to learn new software highly desirable.

Language Skills:

• Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain harmonious relationships with customers in person and over the phone.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Manual dexterity required to operate POS, copiers, packaging tools and complete customer paperwork.

The bottom line:

This job is classified as retail/ customer service, but it's a bit different than some other jobs that fall in the same category. First, it contains elements of light manual labor-- packing, handling packages/supplies and using hand tools including a tape gun, tape measure and box cutter. Second, many of our transactions are more complex to complete than transactions at average retail business because we often have to input addresses and other shipping information, as well as use multiple programs depending on what services a customer is seeking (don't worry-- we'll teach you everything).

However, if you are the kind of person who likes to be challenged and isn't afraid of a little hard work, then this could be a great opportunity for you. We acknowledge that there are jobs out that are "less work." Those are also jobs where you'll probably often be bored out of your mind and spend a lot of your shift watching the clock.
