Job Summary
The Library Aide supports the daily operations of the university library by assisting patrons, maintaining library materials, and ensuring a welcoming and organized environment. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, customer-service focused, and interested in academic resources and library services.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)
- Greet and assist library patrons with locating materials, using equipment, and general inquiries.
- Shelve books and other materials accurately and efficiently.
- Check materials in and out using the library’s circulation system.
- Maintain order in library stacks and reading areas.
- Assist with inventory, labeling, and processing of new materials.
- Monitor and report damaged or missing items.
- Support library events, workshops, and outreach activities.
- Perform basic clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and photocopying.
- Enforce library policies and ensure a quiet, respectful environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with library systems and databases (training provided).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, internet).
Equivalent Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
- Prior experience in a library or customer service setting is a plus.
