Department of Communication
The Department of Communication is the largest department in COLFA, with almost 1,000 students and 25 full-time faculty. At the undergraduate level, we specialize in Communication Studies with concentrations in Public Relations and Health Communication. Courses also cover International Communication, Interpersonal / Small Group Communication, and Organizational Communication. Additionally, we offer a degree in Journalism and a “first-in-the-nation” degree in Digital Media Influence. At the graduate level, we offer an M.A. in Communication and are developing a Ph.D. program with a planned start in the Fall of 2027.
Salary Range: Up to $45,050 commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications

UTSA’s Department of Communication seeks a Fixed-Term Track (non-tenure) Assistant Professor of Practice to teach online asynchronous Public Speaking classes.These classes explore theory and practice of speaking in formal settings. Emphasis on preparation, adaptation, and delivery of oral and visual presentations, as well as written analysis of historical speeches.

- M.A./M.S. or equivalent in Communication or a related field.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
- Available to teach in-person classes in the future, as well as other basic communication courses (e.g. Foundations of Communication and Communication Theory).
