Position Information

Hiring Department: Facilities Management

Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 7:30am- 3:30pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.

FLSA status: Non-exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.

Position Summary

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of small engine-powered equipment, including lawn mowers, pumps, chain saws, weed eaters, tractors, golf carts, generators, and other machinery. This position operates within the Auto Shop and reports directly to the Auto Shop Supervisor, contributing to the overall maintenance and repair operations under their guidance and oversight.

Essential Functions

Organizes and maintains a small engine repair shop, including cleaning, stocking, and managing inventory.

Coordinates with the Central Warehouse to maintain optimal inventory levels for essential parts and supplies, assisting in cost comparisons to ensure efficient procurement.

Perform routine and preventative maintenance on departmental vehicles and equipment to include lubrication, oil changes, maintaining proper fluid levels, proper air pressure levels, and performing general safety checks, such as brake lights, blinkers, headlights, horns, and mirrors.

Performs inspections, mechanical maintenance and electrical systems repairs, assembly, and service to vehicles and equipment.

Works with supervisor to schedule repairs and maintenance tasks, provide cost estimates, and make recommendations for equipment upgrades or replacements.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and part replacements.

Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work environment while adhering to safety regulations and best practices.

Participate in necessary training and obtains certifications as needed to service vehicles and equipment effective.

Learn and utilize institutional software systems for work order tracking, inventory management, and documentation.

Must be available to work occasional overtime as needed to meet operational demands.

Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines.

Comply with all State and University policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Education: One year certificate from college or technical school.

Experience: Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
